Interview with BDonnn
Updated: Sep 10, 2020
I had a great interview with my friend Brandon, known as B.Donnn. He is pursing his music and I had the pleasure to interview him about how he got started on his music journey, what keeps him motivated, and what advice he would like to give for people chasing their dreams.
Q: When was the moment you knew you wanted to pursue music and how old were you?
B: It was about like... two years ago I decided to just make a song. Before I put the song out I sent it to like a few people to give me honest feedback. They was like rocking with it and I was like maybe I should take it serious so I dropped the song and it got a lot of plays. That was my first year of college and I was going to LIU and yeah that's about it.
Q: That's dope, that's cool ... So, who are your favorite artist and why?
B: Favorite artist? I would say I listen to a lot of PnB Rock,I like the way he flows. He's different, he's very slept on by the way. Um, I look up to Lil' T-Jay, he's from New York, he's from the Bronx. I like what he says in his songs I fell like I was to get on track with him we would body that.
Q: Okay, third one ... You ever had a moment when you felt completely unmotivated? And if you did how did you over come that?
B: Honestly, I probably gets those feelings a lot of days its like sometimes stuff don't really go as planned. And like you just start doubting yourself as a human being I feel like a lot of people do that. But to over come that, you know I just like look at things to motivate me I think about where I could be if I don't stop and I look at other artists too, and look at their story. I study a lot of artists a lot of stories, how they came up I get determined and I just keep going.
Q: Yeah, that's what I like to do, too. I always look at artist interview, I feel like that's what keeps me going. If they can do it, I can do it!
B: Yeah, I wish a lot of people had that same mindset its a lot of people out there with lot more potential.
Q: That's dope! Yeah that's definitely true .... my fourth question is what lessons have you learned a long the way through your music or in general?
B: I learned to not care what people think that one I would say that because I feel like your the only one in control of your creations no one can see what you see. And also believing in yourself life is short do you believe in yourself keep it pushing.
Q: That's what I be stressing on my podcast believe in yourself guys, C'mon! (laughing)
B: They gotta just get out of their comfort zone, you know!
Q: Exactly! Like with this podcast this is something that is completely out of my comfort zone, but it's so refreshing to do 'cause its something different.
B: Yeah, I like it!
Q: Thank you, thank you! Now the last question...what would be any advice you would give someone who is trying to chase their dreams?
B: Any advice? Let's see ... I think this could be a whole story, uh, any advice? don't be scared to do what you love... if you have a group of friends and you want to do something way different from what they doing you might have to say f**k those friends honestly. Like focus on yourself , don't listen to with nobody tells you, don't let anybody tell you you cant do this you know say thankfully I never came across those comments. I know there's people out there that be hating you know i see them and if your doing something you love you will come across that like everyday so get use to that. but don't let it discourage you or bring you down. you know what I'm saying.
Q: And even, if you guys do come across that just let that be your motivation honestly. Cause prove them wrong!
B: Exactly! And there's always room for improvement, especially if you young right now like this is like the perfect time to just grind and just like try new things say like. For example, if you want to make music, after like two years you want to quit cause you want to try something else there's nothing wrong with that, you feel me? You have your whole life you know what I'm saying so.
Q: Exactly! Dope, dope, thank you so much for the advice and thank you so much for answering all these questions, I really wanted Brandon on here because he puts out amazing music and I love his Instagram because he really shows that he puts in the work, its very inspiring, you want to tell the podcast where to follow you?
