Get Ready: LexLaks Is Making Moves!

Updated: Apr 24, 2021

LexLaks is on a mission to make his dreams come true. From long hours working hard in the studio, listening to the power of his words, and now releasing his new music video,”Run It Up”. LexLaks discuss his love for music, what keeps him going, and the process behind his music video,”Run It Up”.

Q: What first got you into music?

L: I feel like music has always been something that I could naturally piece together in my head. Through time and practice I later developed a better understanding of how to create the music that I would deem valid as “good music”. That’s still something I work on daily because as the music evolves as does my perception on how I see an ideal song being made as well.

Q: What is your creative process like?

L: In my opinion, the best time to listen to music is on a late night ride on a empty highway. It’s as if any vibe can be tapped into during that type of setting, which is why I would say most of my best songs have came to me from the hours of 12am-6am. And when recording aside from maybe a little drink to relaks in a studio session. I prefer to be sober headed to best recreate the song at hand as it sounds in my head to the best of my ability. I’ve had sessions when I’ve been so lit that I couldn’t even read the words off my phone (laughs) . I’d rather avoid that and keep my attention to detail as good as I do for most of my songs.

Q: What is your favorite song to perform? Why?

L: Preforming as a whole of a good feeling to me, it feel like I can express myself through whichever topic the song is speaking to the listeners about. Party songs are always cool but I do want to preform songs to make the audience feel attached to the performance making the overall experience more immersive and emotional for the listeners.

Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?

L: My musical preference is naturally something that’ll get high energy flowing through out the venue it’s being played at. Party music seems to be my go2vibe of choice 8/10 times.

Q: If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

L: Artist I would be excited to open up a show for would depend on the artist that I have the best chemistry with so that we can create the best vibes for the listeners. As opposed to opening of for an artist that’s a d*** but has a lot of clout or even a few favorite songs of mine. It’s all about energy.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

L: I keep a list of quotes that hold meaning to me and I would have to a say one of my favorite ones that come to mind is a quote made by the actor Jim Carrey, "You can fail at what you don't want, So you mine as well take a chance at doing what you love". There’s a lot of ways to make money, but only a few that will utilize your best attributes. I’d much rather go to the grave with a, “Oh well” mind state over a, “What if” mind state.

Q: What is one message you would like to give to your fans?

L: Do what comes naturally easy to you and don’t let anyone tell you what is cool and what isn’t. This is your life and you are the star of this movie.

Q: You have been showing previews of you music video Run It Up, which is coming very soon... How was that like shooting the music video? How was that process like?

L: The video shoot was actually very fun. It almost didn’t happen being since there was supposed to be a snow storm that day and the original videographer flaked, no pun intended. I had less than 12hrs to find a video replacement videographer, location for the shoot, and a haircut which was probably the most difficult part for me. But it seemed like the more I kept dedicated to the mission the more things started falling in place. The video director Mr.Daleduro and his team came in amazingly clutch so shout out to them and everyone involved that pulled up last minute to be apart of the making of this video. It was truly an iconic one.

Q: Without spilling too much, what else can your fans expect from Mr. LexLaks?

L: Well that’s a good question, I surprise myself sometimes honestly so at this point anything is possible, but I am looking to touch on every kinda vibe I can musically and even establish a team of people from around my way that can join me in this mission. I just recommend everyone stay tuned for what’s to come because it’s just starting to get interesting.
